MINOT - David Rodriquez provided the spark, and his teammates did the rest, as Minot High defeated Minot North, 5-1 in WDA play on Sept. 17 at Sentinel Stadium. After a scoreless opening half, Minot North broke the ice when Jace Hoaglund's shot found the net. That lead held up for eighth minutes until Rodriguez scored at 50th minute mark, and then added a second just a minute late. The 2-1 lead was all the Magi would need, but insurance markers came. Grayson Steele score twice, both a minute apart. Nolan Schmidt but a bow on the match with a goal in the 75th minute. The win was Minot's second over its young rival and keeps them atop the conference standings. The Sentinels dropped their third match in a row.

Minot High will face Legacy (1-5 WDA, 1-5 overall) on September 19, while Minot North is set to play Bismarck (4-2 WDA, 5-2 overall) on the same date.
